The Best Golden Globes Looks 2024

The award show season is definitely a treat to many different viewers in many different audiences. While some flocked to their television to see which actress or actor would beat out their peers in the fight for the famed award, others tuned in for one reason and one reason alone: the red carpet. I’ll admit I tuned in for a little bit of both.

However, while I know on both fronts not to get my hopes up, I’ll admit I was pleasantly surprised by the stars at the award show tonight. And although I didn’t anticipate as many victories for Oppenheimer, I was expecting red to shine through as a triumphantly dominant color this year. Not that everyone can pull it off…

Below I have compiled my 7 favorite looks from the show, a show that premiered on January 7th (see what I did there?). You may not agree, but that’s ok. Don’t waste your time fighting with me now, we have the Grammy’s in less than a month!

Ariana Greenblatt Wearing Yves Saint Laurent

Styled by Molly Dickson, the sixteen-year-old Barbie actress donned a look by Yves Saint Laurent that is reminiscent of the house’s famous Le Smoking Tuxedo, a first-of-its-kind tuxedo designed for women. It was inspired by a combination of Niki de Saint-Phalle and Danielle Luquet de Saint Germain and featured a more elegant and feminine collar and pants, accentuated to be better proportioned for the female body. The suit is dressed down by Dickson and Greenblatt, as the latter doesn’t utilize a blazer or tie. The look is finished off with Chopard diamond rings and necklaces as well as Jimmy Choo shoes.

Barry Keoghan Wearing Louis Vuitton

All eyes were on Keoghan tonight after he drank water from a clean yet questionable source in his latest role, and might I add his look tonight features less nudity than the ending to Saltburn. This is the Irish actor’s second appearance at the Golden Globe Awards in a row, the last time being for Eternals, and he has swapped out his previously blue attire for a striking and memorable red. The look was created by Louis Vuitton, a fashion house Keoghan is more than familiar with, attending their pop-up collection recently. The pants and blazer feature two distinctly different patterns, and to top off the look, Keoghan wore Tiffany and Co. jewelry.

Dua Lipa Wearing Schiaparelli

Although many might disagree with the return of the once popular mermaid look, I do believe that this black velvet dress adorned with gold and diamond bones is quite a hit. Lipa somewhat recently received support and excitement when she changed her hair from jet black to maroon, meaning a new era of Dua was Lipa-ing at us. The dress is feature-fitting while also giving her room to move around quickly, hence the puffy bottom. Top off the look with a retired topaz necklace from Tiffany and Co., and you have a stellar look that would make anyone lose their cool.

Jonathan Bailey Wearing Givenchy

Oh Mr.Bailey, one of the few men who dared to wear something different from a black suit. I’ll admit that a black tuxedo is timeless in life, but quickly becoming boring on a red carpet. Bailey instead dons a monochrome suit by Givenchy, setting himself apart from his peers. The look is nothing over the top or super special, but it works well to elevate Bailey’s natural charm.

Margot Robbie Wearing Armani

Don’t worry, Margot Robbie knows she can never let us down, and she more than delivered. Channeling her inner Barbie once more, Robbie wears an Armani dress that portrays her as “Superstar Barbie” from 1977, a party-loving timepiece that has been recreated flawlessly. Robbie became famous over the summer for recreating Barbie looks for different premieres of the movie, wearing a new outfit each and every time. Fans were disappointed when she had to stop due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, but luckily it is clear Barbie lives on inside of Robbie.

Rosamund Pike Wearing Dior

Similar to Keoghan, Pike knew that she would have some attention when she rolled up to the award show, so she took her preparation rather seriously. Wearing a Dior Haute Couture dress, Pike embodies her character of Lady Elsbeth from Saltburn perfectly. She had consulted with director Emerald Fennell to determine if the lacy style would be something her character would wear, something both women agreed upon. Furthermore, Pike had adapted the fascinator after a skiing incident on Christmas left her face “smashed.” And although she’s healed, she fell in love with the look and kept the ensemble complete.
